CONNEMARA COURT AT RISK OF CLOSURE

A courthouse in Connemara that provides services in the Irish language to the Gaeltacht is at risk of closure.

Derrynea Courthouse in Casla could be closed this year as part of Government cutbacks.

The court sits one day a month, and the Judge and registrar are competent in Irish.

Fine Gael TD for Galway West, Sean Kyne, told Galway Bay fm News even if the courthouse is closed, it’s possible to retain the service.
