Connemara councillors to be briefed on N59 plans
Galway Bay fm newsroom – There has been much criticism of the state of the Galway to Clifden road, the N59.
Gaeltacht Minister Jimmy Deenihan and MEP Marian Harkin added their voice in recent times.
However, there’s a plan emerging for a better road and the Connemara Councillors will get a full briefing tomorrow about the section from Maam Cross to Clifden.
The details of the lands to be acquired are to be published next month alongside a number of environmental reports relating to the project.
But while Councillors will welcome the plans there are concerns that environmental rules may put serious constraints on the work.
Meanwhile, the roads authorities are waiting until the two month period for objections has passed before following the go-ahead from Bord Pleanála for the section from Oughterard to Maam Cross.
