Connaught publicans call for assistance in next budget
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Publicans in Connaught are calling on local TDs and Senators to assist their industry in the next annual budget.
The Vitners Federation of Ireland is asking to maintain the 9 per cent VAT rate for the hospitality sector and to reduce the excise rate on alcohol.
Ireland currently has one of the highest rates of excise and VAT on alcohol.
VFI delegate to Galway, Pat Gilmore, says that increased excise tax can lead to a wider gap between off-license and pub trade.
