Connacht gear up for pre-season friendlies

CONNACHT kick off the new season with upcoming friendlies against NEC Harlequins on Friday, August 13, and Saracens on Saturday, August 21.
Both matches will be played in the Sportsground (6.30pm), and supporters can avail of a special package for both matches by purchasing tickets in advance from www.ticketmaster.ie or from the Connacht Rugby Offices on College Road.
The package offers tickets at the following prices: enclosed €30, general ground €20 and concession €15. Children under 12 years old will be admitted for free.
Season tickets can still be purchased for €225 which includes the two pre-season friendly matches along with 11 Magners League games at the Sportsground and the three home pool games in the Amlin Challenge Cup. A renewal season ticket for the stand will cost €275, family tickets are €375, concessions €150 and juniors just €60 for the new campaign.
Speaking about the matches against NEC Harlequins and Saracens, Head Coach Eric Elwood said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming two of the Aviva Premiership’s top sides to the Connacht.
“To be the best you have to test yourself against the best and with the quality of both these squads, there will be no shortage of talent visiting the Sportsground. We have had some intense pre-season training and this is the opportunity for our players to put into action what they have been training for the last number of weeks.”
Meanwhile, Connacht Rugby is supporting the Kenya Rugby Patrons Society who offer training and a sporting alternative to the street children of Nairobi. Clubs and schools from across the province have joined forces with the Connacht Rugby squad to donate unwanted rugby kit to this worthy cause.
