Confirmed: the public won’t be allowed attend Ballybrit
THE door has been firmly closed on the prospect of any members of the public being allowed to attend the 2020 Galway Summer Racing Festival.
Michael Moloney, General Manager of Galway Racecourse, has poured cold water on growing speculation that the popular week-long meeting at Ballybrit would be opening its turnstiles.
Moloney confirmed this week that the festival will go ahead behind-closed-doors after the latest consultations with Horse Racing Ireland. “Perhaps, some owners might be allowed to attend if the Government Covid-19 guidelines are relaxed, but unfortunately there will be no entry for the general public.”
Horse racing has resumed in Ireland but under strict protocols and there is no anticipation of a major shift in this policy ahead of next month’s Galway festival.
