Confirmation that Galway Harbour extension application to be fast-tracked
Galway Bay fm newsroom – An application for the proposed extension of Galway Harbour is to be fast-tracked.
It follows a decision by an Bord Pleanala which deemed the project as strategic infrastructure after carrying out a pre-application consultation.
A planning application for the project is to be submitted by the end of next month.
It will come before the board for approval in mid-November.
The development includes a 216 berth marina, facilities for cruise liner passengers, port related buildings, a helicopter pad and a fishing pier.
Eamon Bradshaw, CEO of Galway Harbour Company says it’s an important phase after seven years planning and may also involve an oral hearing early next year.
He told Galway Bay fm news the planning application is now finalised.
