CONDITIONS TO WORSEN AS SNOW FREEZES ON COUNTY ROADS

Galway is covered in a blanket of snow again this morning.

Gardai are reporting most main roads are passable and the N17 and N59 have been salted.

However the N18 has not yet been salted and Gardai in Gort are warning motorists to drive with extreme caution this morning as roads are treacherous.

Most side roads remain very dangerous with snowfalls freezing now which will worsen conditions.

Gardai in Ballinasloe are reporting many cars slipping off roads, especially on the Ballinasloe Road towards Laurencetown near Stapleton’s Cross.

The M6 is passable but again motorists are urged to drive slowly and not tailgate cars in front.
