Galway Bay fm newsroom – Concerns have been raised over the relocation of a drug treatment outpatient clinic to Mervue.

City Councillor Declan McDonnell says there has been a lack of consultation with the local community on the facility located at Mervue Health Centre.

The HSE says the facility was moved from Shantalla to improve the clinic environment in January of this year.

It states that no drugs are administered or dispensed at the outpatient clinic and adds that it is an important part of the rehabilitation programme for patients.

Cllr Declan McDonnell told Galway Talks that it’s located much too near a residential area and creche and proper consultation is needed.
