Limited access to Athenry train station is causing serious problems for commuters.

That’s according to Chairperson of the Athenry environmental network, Patrick Creed.

Lifts at the train station have been out of order for about 6 months.

There’s no ticket office on platform 2, which means a person has first to cross to platform 1 to get a ticket.

This has led to less able persons, including parents with buggies, driving round the train station to platform 1 then driving back to platform 2.

It’s understood that gates have now been locked at platform 2.
