CONCERN OVER LACK OF TRANSPORT FOR SOME GALWAY PATIENTS
Date Published: 26-Jun-2008
County Councillor and recently-elected chairperson of the the HSE West Regional Health Forum,Tomás Mannion, has voiced concern over restrictions on free hospital transport in Galway.
Under current HSE guidelines, patients with a medical card can only access free hospital transport if they fall into one of four categories.
These categories are Oncology, Organ Transplant, Acute Short term lower limb injuries and dialysis patients.
At a meeting of the Health Forum this week, he said restricting hopsital transport to these categories, means many other deserving cases have no service.
