Galway Bay fm newsroom – Concerns have been raised over a lack of quality business broadband in areas across rural county Galway.

Galway East Fine Gael TD Paul Connaughton has brought the issue to the attention of the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte.

He says broadband is a major stumbling block to rural job creation and says one businessman he spoke to was advised to set up in the city due to poor internet access in East Galway.

Deputy Connaughton’s concerns follow an announcement by the IDA on the importance of foreign direct investment in Ireland in areas such as technology.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Deputy Connaughton says any opportunity to create jobs in rural Galway should be supported with the necessary infrastructure.
