A county councillor claims a number of council houses in Connemara should be demolished, because of neglect over the years.

Councillor Tomás O’Curraoin says three houses in particular are in a terrible state.

An elderly widow lives in one of the houses while a family of five lives in another.

He says the houses have cracks on the walls and one has an overflowing septic tank while another has rats nestled in the attic.

It’s understood the problem has been brought to the attention of the Housing Department of the county council.
