CONCERN FOR JOBS AS LEISURE BOATS TO BE RE-LOCATED FROM PORTUMNA

There is concern for jobs in South East Galway as boating company, Emerald Star plans to move up to 30 boats from Portumna and other locations in Ireland to England.

The company is to open a new destination in Horning in the UK and says the movement of boats is common practice and is based on supply and demand.

Emerald Star says the relocation of the boats will not result in any redundancies at the company.

However local councillor, Willie Burke says people in South Galway are concerned.
