Former Mayor of Galway Michael Crowe has escaped legal proceedings over a breach of ethics legislation

A city council investigation has found that while the Fianna Fáil councillor did breach the legislation he acted in good faith

Following communication with the DPP city manager Joe O’Neill says no legal proceedings will be taken

The complaint against then Mayor Michael Crowe was received in January this year

It alleged he had contravened the ethics requirements of Section 171 the Local Government Act 2001, which requires public representatives to declare their interests

Over the last seven months city manager Joe O’Neill investigated the allegation which concerned the Rental Accommodation Scheme
