CLLR CONNOLLY FURIOUS OVER MERLIN PARK UNIT CLOSURE

Galway City Cllr. Catherine Connolly says the HSE decision to close unit 4 in Merlin Park is disgraceful and unacceptable.

Unit 4 is an acute unit catering for 24 elderly patients who have suffered strokes and other serious medical conditions.

Cllr. Connolly says the unit provides essential physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy.

Cllr. Connolly says that to close such a unit on the pretext of improving services is shocking and she will be tabling an urgent opposition motion for the next Health Forum meeting in Merlin Park.
