Tuam Area Councillor Mary Hoade has called for progress on a primary care centre in Gort.

The matter was raised at last evening’s meeting of the Regional Health Forum West.

Cllr Hoade was advised that a potential site had been identified on the Tulla Road in Gort, however the GPs who had expressed interest in co-location are no longer in a position to do so.

Catherine Cunningham, Area Manager of Galway Roscommon PCCC said that due to this, this location is no longer being developed as a PPP site.

Members were also advised that the design team has been appointed for Tuam Primary Care Centre and that the HSE plans to have a planning application submitted within the next three to four months.

Cllr Mary Hoade said she was disappointed to hear the Gort site is not proceeding in the form which had been planned.
