CLIFDEN TEEN JAILED FOR ASSAULT IN BARE-KNUCKLE MATCH

A Clifden teenager has been jailed for two years for biting off his brother-in- law’s nose and ear during a prearranged bare knuckle boxing match.

Just before the trial was due to begin, 18 year old Jimmy Conroy, from Glenbricken, Clifden, pleaded guilty to assaulting his brother-in-law, 33 year old Thomas ‘Buttons’ Sweeney, causing him harm outside Conroy’s home on December 27, 2009.
