Clifden lifeboat assisted in a rescue operation off the Cleggan coast last evening.

It followed an alert call just before 6pm when the motor failed on a rigid inflatable boat which was drifting near High Island, northwest of Cleggan.

The boat with two people on board had left from Aughris in Cleggan and was towed safely back to shore by a three member rescue crew on board the Atlantic 75.
