Clayton in the running for Bar of Year award

The Clayton Hotel Galway are no strangers to awards. This time they are celebrating once again as the Enclosure Bar & Bistro has just been selected as finalist in the Sky Bar of the Year Awards in the ‘Connacht Bar of the Year’ category.

The Sky Bar of the Year Awards is now in its 10th year, and the awards are open to every bar in Ireland thus highlighting the level of competition associated with these highly coveted awards.

Tony Newell, Bar Manager at the Enclosure Bar & Bistro said: “Having been nominated in 2014 for the same award, as well as being personally nominated for ‘Bar Manager of the Year’ is an outstanding achievement.

“We have a very loyal local base of customers here at the Clayton, and I am overwhelmed that we have been recognised for this. Obviously I would love to win, but a nomination in this sought after category is an award in itself for us.”

This year, six of the categories including ‘Connacht Bar of the Year’ are open to a public vote so people can have their say on who wins.

Voting closes on Wednesday next, August 19. As well as waiting to see if they are successful in this category, the Clayton will have to wait until the awards night to see if Tony Newell has been successful in his bid for Bar Manager of the year.

The winners of each category, including the overall Sky Bar of the Year 2015, will be announced in The Mansion House on September 7.
