CLAREGALWAY RESIDENTS REASSURED OVER BUS CORRIDOR
Date Published: 12-Sep-2007
Claregalway’s chronic traffic problems will be eased with the introduction of a quality bus corridor.
That was the advice from Galway county council to local residents at a special meeting in Claregalway this week.
The Claregalway community Development Association and residents met with council senior engineer Martin Lavelle to discuss their concerns over the proposed three traffic lanes and removal of traffic islands to make way for the Quality Bus corridor.
The QBC is proposed to run through the village for 4kms along the N17 and it’s estimated it could cut 30 minutes off daily commutes.
PD councillor Jim Cuddy says most residents at the meeting were reassured the plan was for the good of the village in the long run
