Clancy bids for Australian title

FORMER Oughterard BC boxer Gearoid Clancy will contest the Australian Superlightweight title in Queensland on Saturday.
Based in Bondi Boxing Club in Sydney, it will be the biggest professional bout of Clancy’s career to date. He travels into Stephen Sparks’ backyard in Twoowoomba and goes in as the underdog.
Clancy says a hostile environment is nothing new to him. “I have always considered myself the away fighter even when boxing out of Sydney. Sparks will have the crowd behind them but I relish the opportunity of going into another boxer’s backyard and coming out the other side the winner.”
