CIVIL CASE OVER CITY HALL BLAST

City manager Joe O’Neill has revealed a civil case is being taken against the city council over the explosion which occurred in City Hall in June 2009

In a letter sent to city cllrs last night the manager confirms that the Health and Safety Authority has completed its investigation and no action will be taken against the council

Mr O Neill adds a civil case is being taken and on foot of legal advice he is not putting any further information on the blast into the public domain while this litigation is ongoing

He says when the civil case is concluded he will give his report on the incident to the city council

No one was injured in the blast on June 11th 2009 when a water boiler exploded causing substantial damage to City Hall

The cause of the blast remains unknown until the manager gives his report to councillors
