CityLink has been refused a licence to operate services between Dublin and Galway until it stops an unlicensed non-stop service on the same route.

The Department of Transport did not include CityLink’s service between Galway, Dublin and Dublin airport in its latest list of licensed bus services.

Last month, CityLink refused to cease operating the unlicensed route and has since been charged over 6 euro a day in fines.

The Department’s intervention followed a complaint from GoBus, which obtained a licence to operate the route, sparking a price war on the route.

According to today’s Irish Times, the licence has not been withdrawn but will not be renewed until the company complies with its obligations.
