CITY WORKERS AWAIT NEWS OF HEWLETT PACKARD GLOBAL CUTS

Workers at Hewlett-Packard in the city are waiting to hear if their jobs will be affected after the company announced its to cut its global workforce by 8 per cent.

The computer giant last night confirmed that some 27-thousand jobs are to be cut worldwide by the end of 2014.

There’s no word yet on whether the staff at Ballybrit in the city and at Leixlip in Co. Kildare will be affected.

The firm has its European Software Centre in the Ballybrit Business Park site where it employs up to 600 staff.
