The Court of Criminal Appeal has rejected an appeal by a Galway city woman against the severity of her nine-year sentence for stabbing her neighbour to death following a row over a puppy.

Twenty seven year-old Una Black had claimed the sentence was disproportionate.

Ms Black, formerly of Walter Macken Flats, Mervue, pleaded guilty last year to the manslaughter of 42 year old John Malone at that address in December 2006.
