CITY WOMAN GIVEN TIME TO PAY COMPENSATION TO ASSAULT VICTIM

Sentencing has been deferred in the case where a 19 year old city woman kicked a man in the groin area resulting in post traumatic stress for him.

Samanta Flaherty, of 25 Barry Avenue, Mervue, pleaded guilty at Galway District Court to assaulting the 20 year old man, and to breaching the peace at Galway shopping centre car park, Headford Road, on August 31 last year.

Judge Fahy said Flaherty should have kept her foot on the ground but accepted she was remorseful and had not realised how much damage she could cause by kicking out like that.

She adjourned sentencing to October 7 next to give Flaherty time to come up with €750 compensation.

She indicated that she would further adjourn the matter on that date for another €750 to be paid at a later date.
