CITY TRADERS TO CELEBRATE EYRE SQUARE 300th ANNIVERSARY

The handing over of Eyre Square to the people of Galway 300 years ago is to be celebrated later this month

The historic handover from Edward Eyre in May 1712 will be marked through a musical event involving ‘Sean Agus Nua’ – a group funded by Galway Arts Office which has been researching the cultural diversity of the region for the past 8 years

While Galway city council is finalising its programme for the event there will be a tree planting and the unveiling of a commemorative stone by Mayor of Galway terry O’Flaherty

The one day musical festival is being organised in conjunction with the Eyre Square Traders and is scheulded to take place on Saturday week Sept 15
