Gardai are investigating claims that a 15 years old boy, who is being monitored by the probation service, shot his neighbour in the chest with a pellet gun

In May, the teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, was placed on a probation bond, to be monitored for twelve months

Garda McNulty said he found the youth with a pellet gun in a nearby field and the youth admitted he had fired it at the window of his neighbour’s house but he could not remember shooting it at the man.

The garda said he had sent a file to the DPP’s office

The court also heard the teenager is being investigated in connection with the theft of a van in Ballybane in August

Defence solicitor, Sean O’Carroll said his client had not been charged with either of these incidents

Judge Mary Fahy decided to give the youth bail until November 20th while the matters were being investigated
