CITY SPORTS PARK FUNDING DIVERTED TO ROAD PROJECT

500 thousand euro in funding that had been earmarked for Westside Sports Park master plan has been diverted to a city road project.

That’s according to City Councillor Padraig Conneely who says the diversion of the funding was confirmed at a recent meeting of the Recreation and Amenity Committee.

He says the funding will no longer be available to the sports plan due to the Seamus Quirke Road project over-run.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Cllr Conneely says it’s a major disappointment, especially for St Michaels local GAA club.
