The landlord of an illegal city sex cinema operating without planning permission has been fined a 1000 euro and given two months to shut the cinema.

R. Byrne Concrete Ltd. owns the Jade Winters premises in the Liosban Industrial Estate on the Tuam Road in the city.

The identity of the tenant, believed to be an English company, remains a mystery.

Judge Mary Fahy had issued a court order on Jade Winters to close as far back as June 4th 2008, as it was operating as a sex cinema without planning permission.

When efforts by the city council to pursue the operator of the cinema failed and it remained open, the city council turned to the landlord of the premises, namely R Byrne Concrete Ltd.

Judge Fahy fined R Byrne Concrete Ltd 1000 euro, and ordered the cessation of unauthorised use, with two months to comply.

Costs of 1550 euro were also awarded against the landlord.
