City & Salthill are Tidy Towns

Galway city and Salthill were yesterday named as award winners in the annual national Tidy Towns competition.
Ireland’s tidiest towns were announced yesterday by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, John Gormley, with the overall winner being Aughrim in Co. Wicklow.
Salthill won the award for best new entry for a small town with a population between 2,500 and 5,000, while Galway City won best new entry for a large area with a population of over 25,000.
