CITY ROAD CLOSURES DUE TO FLOODING

The Wolfe Tone bridge at the Spanish Arch has been closed to traffic following heavy rainfall.

Galway Gardaí say the bridge has been closed after a heavy downpour and high winds pushed water from the river corrib onto the road.

Diversions are in place up Dominick street and Merchants road.

The Lough Atalia road has also been closed due to heavy flooding with traffic being diverted onto College Road.

A spokseperson for Galway City Council says it will be reopened when the area drains and flooding subsides.
