City residents successful in safety campaign
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A long running campaign by local residents to improve safety in one area of the city has finally reached a conclusion.
Maunsells Residents Association has negotiated with the City Council for safety works to be carried out.
They will include road widening at Maunsell’s Road and the provision of a new footpath along the west side of the road from the Taylors Hill junction.
There will also be a re-construction of a boundary wall at Maunsell’s Road and the provision of a new bus stop and shelter.
The planned works will form a Part 8 planning application and will be advertised publicly before city councillors decide on the project.
Local Councillor, Peter Keane, was also behind the safety campaign and says he hopes the local authority will back the plans.
