CITY RAPE CRISIS NETWORK TO PUBLISH STATISTICS ON CHILD SEXUAL VIOLENCE

The city-based Rape Crisis Network of Ireland will today publish its annual national statistics for 2011.

The organisation based on Quay Street works with 14 rape crisis centres nationwide on the development and coordination of national projects including expert data collection.

The figures to be published today will primarily focus on survivors of child sexual violence.

The centre says over 2-thousand-300 people contacted them in 2011 with 53 per cent of females and 84 per cent of males reporting sexual abuse that had occurred when they were children.
