CITY PUBLIC MEETING ON VOLVO INFRASTRUCTURE PLANS
Date Published: 19-Dec-2011
A public meeting on new infrastructure plans to accommodate the Galway finale of the Volvo Ocean race will take place in the city tonight.
Locals and fishermen in the Claddagh area have raised concern over the construction of a footbridge from the Longwalk to Southpark in Salthill.
However, organisers say the footbridge will only be in place for about ten days during the global yacht race stopover.
Tonight’s meeting takes place at the Fr.Griffin Hall near the Claddagh at 8.
Chairman of Let’s do it Global John Killeen says the footbridge will help alleviate footfall from Wolfe Tone Bridge.
