CITY PREPARES HOMECOMING FOR PRESIDENT-ELECT

Preparations are underway in the city this afternoon for President Elect Michael D Higgin’s official homecoming to Galway.

The celebration will take place outside the Hotel Meyrick in Eyre Square from half past four this evening.

He is to be accompanied by Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore and a large crowd is expected to enjoy the music and celebration.

Meanwhile, Bishop of Galway Martin Drennan has joined well-wishers in congratulating the former Galway TD.

He says he has served the people of Galway with great care and compassion.

It’s understood a new chair of Irish white oak will be made for the inauguration ceremony on Friday November 11th.
