CITY OFFICIALS WORRIED ABOUT LOSS IN COMMERCIAL RATES AND WATER

City officials are increasingly concerned about the fall in income from commercial rates and water

Cllr Padraig Conneely said this problem needs to be looked at nationally as rates are critical to financing a city

He cites the example of one city business which owes 900 thousand euro in rates to the city council

The city council now has approximately 15 million in rates arrears with only 60 per cent of rates due collected last year
