CITY MEN ESCAPE CONVICTION FOR MOYCULLEN VANDALISM
Date Published: 01-Jul-2008
Two young city men who were part of a gang of five who vandalised an unoccupied house in Moycullen, causing 7,000 euro worth of damage, have escaped a conviction at Galway District Court.
It’s emerged 10,000 euro in compensation has been paid by those involved.
The court heard last March that two girls and a third male juvenile, all from the Moycullen area, arranged to meet 19 year old Rory Kenny of 7 Ballinfoyle Cottages, Headford Road, and 20 year old David Walsh of 5 Lakeshore, Renmore, at around 8p.m. at a hay shed at the rear of the house near Moycullen, on June 13 last year for a drinking session.
They entered and vandalised the unoccupied house, breaking furniture and every piece of crockery they could find. Kenny later admitted all five had spent two to three hours wrecking the house.
The juveniles were not before the court and were dealt with instead under the Juvenile Liaison Scheme.
