Galway bay fm newsroom – A meeting to be held in the city next week (Mar 20) will hear a call for an end to the exploitation of residential care workers.

It will be held in the Clayton Hotel next Thursday at 5.30pm, and is organised by Impact Trade Union.

The union argues that health employers are in breach of EU and Irish working time legislation, with residential care staff often expected to work 63 hour weeks.

IMPACT has lodged a formal complaint on the matter with the European Commission.

Organiser Una Faulkner says the current practice is not sustainable
