Resident Associations from all over Galway City are meeting in City Hall at 7.30 this evening to look at ways of uniting residents groups to ensure development of all areas.

Items of common concern to be discussed are traffic gridlock, rising incidents of anti-social behaviour, lack of recreational amenities for all age groups and the consequent negative impact on fostering a sense of ‘community spirit’.

The meeting is being organised by Galway City Community Forum and will be addressed by a representative of the local community garda office.

Brendan Smith, Chairperson of the Galway City Community Forum says the aims of the 2002 City Development Strategy to improve community facilities have not been met
