CITY MEETING AGAINST NEW HOUSEHOLD CHARGES

A public meeting is to take place in the city this evening against new charges on household, water and septic tanks.

It’s part of a national campaign of meetings in every county calling for a boycott on the 100 euro household tax.

Domestic water metering is expected to be introduced in 2014 while legislation introducing the septic tank charge was passed in the Dáil last week by 76 votes to 34.

The meeting to discuss all three charges takes place in the Harbour Hotel at 8 this evening.

National campaigner and Dublin TD Clare Daly is attending this evening’s meeting.

She says the campaign has been receiving great support across County Galway.
