CITY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SHOPPING CENTRE ASSAULT

A 19-year-old married father of two is to be sentenced in March for injuring a man’s face with a pint glass in an unprovoked attack at the Galway Shopping Centre car park two years ago.

Thomas Lawrence, 84 Castlepark, Ballybane, pleaded guilty this week before Galway Circuit Criminal Court to the assault which took place on April 29th, 2008.

Judge Raymond Groarke adjourned sentencing to March 3rd and directed the preparation of a probation report on Lawrence and an impact statement on the victim for that date.
