CITY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO KILLING HIS GIRLFRIEND IN 2006

The Central Criminal Court has heard that a 27 year old Galway City man who’s pleaded guilty to strangling his girlfriend, a newly qualified doctor, told hospital staff afterwards that he’d murdered a colleague of theirs.
Patrick Hogan of Fr Griffin Avenue in Galway entered his guilty plea this morning to a charge of murdering 23 year old Karen Guinee at the apartment they shared in June 2006.
Mr Justice Paul Carney has just sentenced Hogan to life in jail.
