CITY HOSTS EUROPEAN RESEARCH GROUP IN PROMOTION OF THE SCIENCES
Date Published: 03-Sep-2012
A flagship science show in the city is being hailed as a major coup for Galway, which will harness and inspire the next generation of young scientists.
That’s according to the Dean of Science at NUI Galway, Tom Sherry, who attended the launch of CERN’s ‘Accelerating Science’ exhibition in Boston Scientific today.
CERN – the European organisation for nuclear research, is one of the world’s largest centres for fundamental physics.
Its travelling exhibition, which runs in Leisureland from the 16th of September to the 2nd of November, will teach visitors about the history of the universe, and includes a model of the large Hadron Collider.
The event will be available exclusively for secondary school tours Monday to Friday but will open to the public at weekends and during midterm break.
