City Hall staff outraged by delivery of raw sewage
Fed up with getting no resolution to their complaints, one Ballinfoile Park resident has resorted to submitting a container of sewage along with a letter of complaint to the offices of Galway City Council
The resident, Pádraig Mac Donnacha from the Galway Community Development Alliance “on behalf of The Baillinfoile Ghaeltacht”, delivered an envelope addressed to the Mayor marked ‘sample from Ballinfoile Park’ in a plastic bag tied at the top with a container inside that was unmarked.
He requested receipts for the two items.
On handing them over to the staff member in Corporate Services, he remarked: “Be careful, that could be dangerous.”
The staffer alerted another worker in the department and the container was disposed of without being opened.
In the letter, Mac Donnacha said residents had been left with no choice but to present “that which we have endured and continue to endure”.
“You may dispose of the container as you see fit, we, currently, don’t have the luxury of regular access to such facilities. Apologies for the methodology now employed, but we are attempting to highlight the necessity for immediate intervention by Galway City Council to prevent further distress and illnesses.”
