City Hall approves plans for lighting at Pearse Stadium
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Plans to build five floodlit columns at Pearse Stadium in Salthill have been approved subject to 11 conditions.
The GAA has also been warned that adequate traffic management arrangements must be put in place as well as the appointment of an event co-ordinator.
The application seeks to erect and install five floodlit columns as well as an electricity generator to be located under the western terrace.
Of the 12 conditions attached, city planners have stipulated that suitable traffic arrangements are in place.
The GAA is also required to appoint a specific named event co-ordinator.
This person will notify the planning authority of any changes to car parking venues available to Pearse Stadium for match events.
In a request for further information last month, the GAA argued there is more than enough off street parking proposed as well as park and ride options.
A previous submission from the body stated that 4500 parking spaces had been secured at various locations, including South Park.
