Galway’s SSE Cleaning cleans up at awards

A city company has ‘cleaned-up’ at an awards ceremony in Dublin.

Galway’s SSE Cleaning won three prestigious awards at the annual Facilities Management Awards held in the Ballsbridge Hotel recently.

SSE was announced winners of Best Cleaning Service Provider, Excellence in Customer Service and the overall Facilities Management Service Provider of the year.

“We were absolutely thrilled to win two out of the three award categories for which we were nominated. But, the ultimate honour was when we were announced winners of the Overall Service Provider of the Year”, said Mary Connell, Managing Director, SSE Cleaning.

SSE commenced trading in 2004, initially working locally in the Galway and Connacht. Today they operate a nationwide contract cleaning, facilities management and cleanroom service throughout the country.

With a new head office in Glenrock Business Park, Ballybane and a subsidiary office in Dublin, growth is certainly set to continue for this Galway-bred company.

“When we started out over a decade ago our initial focus was in the Medtech sector. This has developed organically through word of mouth and recommendations from our clients. Much of our business is now in sectors such as retail, electronics, software, medtech and educational industries. We’ve shifted from just working in Connacht to working with clients the length and breadth of the country,” said Ms Connell.

She added: “We have always had clear procedures in place. Our Primary focus is on quality of service and building strong partnerships with our clients.  Many of our clients have been with us since day one, which is testament to that ethos.”

Amongst SSE’s impressive client base are organisations such as Valeo, Merit Medical, Zimmer Biomet, Creganna Medical, Advant Medical, Nelipak, Schneider Electric, Electronic Arts and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.

“We have received wonderful letters and emails of support and congratulations from our clients. They are delighted for us. It has also been a big boost for our staff. I am extremely proud of everyone who works for us and see these awards as a reflection of the hard work and dedication our staff put in every day. These awards also acknowledge that we are achieving our aims to provide solutions of the highest quality and standard together with an excellent customer service approach,” she said.

SSE experienced more than a 50 per cent growth in turnover in the past three years, more than tripling the company staffing levels since 2010.
