City eyesore plans suffer another blow

THE proposed redevelopment of the eyesore Taaffes premises on William Street has been delayed yet again – after environmental watchdog group An Taisce lodged an eleventh hour appeal against the planning permission.

Last May, the Galway City Tribune revealed that despite being granted permission, spanish retail giant Zara had abandoned plans tomove into the premises because of a three-year planning delay and the downturn in the economy.

Now, derrick Hambleton, Chairman of An Taisce in Galway has appealed the planning grant because of concerns over the shopfront.
