My Shop…Granny Likes It, which specialises in showcasing work from Irish craftworkers and designers, has just celebrated its first anniversary.  The premises on Upper Abbeygate Street currently stocks over 80 Irish designers and makers, including a strong representation from Galway. Everything in it, from award-winning jewellery, ceramics, textiles and glass to giftware is sourced in Ireland, says owner Rona O’Reilly.

“Having grown up in a world of art and design, seeing what our Irish designers and artists are producing at the minute makes my job both easy and a complete pleasure. Sometimes, when stock arrives into the shop it is very hard to put it out on the shelf and not just buy it for myself!”

The shop stocks everything from jewellery to keyrings, photos to ceramics, and cosmetics to children’s clothes and is proving very popular with customers, she adds.

“The response from all over Ireland to what we are doing here has really illustrated the strong desire to shop Irish but also to shop for quality work.”

My Shop…Granny Likes it is continuing to broaden the range of contemporary design and aims to offer quality goods at a diverse price range.
