CITY COUNCIL U TURN ON TREE RECYCLING DEPOT
Date Published: 06-Jan-2012
Galway City Council will now provide a christmas tree recycling depot for householders on the East side of the city.
The U turn follows concerns raised by city councillor Terry O’Flaherty who said the single drop off point on the Barna Road had sidelined householders in the east.
The one euro service which begins from this Monday [January 9th] had only allowed for one point at Lough Rusheen City Council depot on the Barna Road.
However, a second drop off point announced this morning will now be provided at the Merlin Woods City Council Depot at Doughiska Park.
The service at both locations will run until Saturday the 14th between 9am and 3pm and a free optional bag of compost will also be offered.
Cllr Terry O’Flaherty says the change of heart will save the city from unwanted littering.
